Immanuel has reached its goal for Good Gifts 2020!!!
Thanks to Immanuel's family who contributed towards ELCA Good Gifts, Immanuel was able to reach its goal and purchase a farm for a needy community/family in the world. So much depends on what we can do for others, it makes it very special to realize that everyone plays a part in reaching a congregational family goal. Thank you too all who donated and those who gave of themselves.
God's Work. Our Hands would like to give a gentle reminder for Quarterly Missions.
The second quarter mission is Hospice of Lenawee.
Ministries that provide opportunities and service
Meals on Wheels is a program from the Department on Aging that provides hot, balanced meals once a day through the week to area seniors and home-bound of Lenawee County. The Adrian Senior Center prepares the meals and they are loaded and taken to area senior centers for packaging and distribution. Without this program, some people may not eat...
On a rotating bases, area churches are called to provide volunteers to deliver the packages of food, but during the past few months, volunteers have been hard to find.
If you can deliver meals on one, some or all week days, please let the Senior Center know. You may call (517) 486-2397. Even one day will be helpful! You will be expected to arrive at the Senior Center (Lane St. Blissfield, down town) around 10:45 AM, pack your route's clipboard and coolers in your vehicle (you can get help with this), and run your route between 11:00 and Noon. In the winter months the time is a little later (11:30 to 12:30) due to meal delivery coming from Adrian. Once your finished with the route, come back to the center and drop off the clipboard and coolers and leave---Or better yet, join in the fellowship at the center and enjoy a wonderful buffet and maybe a rousing hand or two of euchre or pinochle.
When Immanuel has a sign-up sheet for volunteers to deliver meals, put your name down! Immanuel's next sign-up will be for one week: June 22 -- June 26, 2020. What a great way to show God's love through your actions. Here's a note from Pat K. about Immanuel's scheduled delivery dates in June:
MEALS ON WHEELS JUNE 22 THRU 26, 2020.
In spite of the Covid-19 pandemic, the need for Meals-on-Wheels continues. Immanuel is scheduled for June 22-26, 2020. The procedure has changed due to stay home-stay safe guidelines. There are still three (3) routes, with delivery Monday--Friday. DO NOT GO INTO THE SENIOR CENTER. Meet at the back of the building, your care will be loaded for you with the pre-packaged containers. Disposable masks and gloves will be provided, if you need them. DO NOT ENTER THE CLIENT'S HOME unless absolutely necessary. Most clients have coolers at their doors. Place food in cooler, knock on door, and leave. If there is no cooler, you are to place food in a plastic grocery bag (provided by the Sr. Center), and hand the bag on the door knob. Again, knock and leave.
I know this is not a pleasant way of delivering meals, but without our help some folks will go hungry.
If you are willing to volunteer a couple days or for the whole week, please call Pat Keinath at (517) 447-3096, by Sunday, June 14, 2020.
God's love to all,
If you have signed up to deliver meals and the weather has turned inclement, call the center (517) 486-2397 to find out if it's open. You may also listen to area radio stations.
