Blessed to be a blessing to others
Immanuel has reached its goal for Good Gifts 2020!!!
Thanks to Immanuel's family who contributed towards ELCA Good Gifts, Immanuel was able to reach its goal and purchase a farm for a needy community/family in the world. So much depends on what we can do for others, it makes it very special to realize that everyone plays a part in reaching a congregational family goal. Thank you too all who donated and those who gave of themselves.
Ministries that provide opportunities and service
What will formal education look like in 2020? The answer remains to be given.
Will classes be in the school buildings? Will students wear masks and be seated in well-spaced classrooms? Will zoom or video classes be offered? Are students going to stay at home completing packets with the help of brothers and sisters, Moms and Dads?
Immanuel will do its best to help students be ready for the 2020-21 school year.
Not knowing makes it difficult to collect supplies as in the past. This year God's Work. Our Hands and Church Council are asking for donations of money.
Please send checks made out to Immanuel Lutheran Church with "School Supplies Project" written in the memo. Or you may drop off cash in a sealed envelop labeled "School Supplies Project," during office hours (Mon, Tues, and Fri 10-12).
With a monetary donation Immanuel will be able to help ready students and schools where there is the most need.
Meals on Wheels is a program from the Department on Aging that provides hot, balanced meals once a day through the week to area seniors and home-bound of Lenawee County. The Adrian Senior Center prepares the meals and they are loaded and taken to area senior centers for packaging and distribution. Without this program, some people may not eat...
On a rotating bases, area churches are called to provide volunteers to deliver the packages of food, but during the past few months, volunteers have been hard to find.
If you can deliver meals on one, some or all week days, please let the Senior Center know. You may call (517) 486-2397. Even one day will be helpful! You will be expected to arrive at the Senior Center (Lane St. Blissfield, down town) around 10:45 AM, pack your route's clipboard and coolers in your vehicle (you can get help with this), and run your route between 11:00 and Noon. In the winter months the time is a little later (11:30 to 12:30) due to meal delivery coming from Adrian. Once your finished with the route, come back to the center and drop off the clipboard and coolers and leave---Or better yet, join in the fellowship at the center and enjoy a wonderful buffet and maybe a rousing hand or two of euchre or pinochle.
When Immanuel has a sign-up sheet for volunteers to deliver meals, put your name down! Immanuel's next sign-up will be for one week: June 22 -- June 26, 2020. What a great way to show God's love through your actions. Here's a note from Pat K. about Immanuel's scheduled delivery dates in June:
If you have signed up to deliver meals and the weather has turned inclement, call the center (517) 486-2397 to find out if it's open. You may also listen to area radio stations.
